“Donnis Scott is a native West Texan, having been raised on a farm in Scurry County. She holds a Bachelor of Political Science from Texas Tech University, where she was inducted into the Golden Key International Honor Society, was a member of Alpha Phi Omega, and was named to the Dean’s List. She received her Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law. During law school, she clerked in the Appellate Division of the Lubbock County District Attorney’s Office and at Calloway Huffaker, PLLC.
After law school, Ms. Scott served as an elected County Attorney, where she prosecuted criminal cases, handled civil, employment, and contractual issues, and was heavily involved in wind farm development. She later spent several years as an Assistant Attorney General, where she was twice named the regional Assistant Attorney General of the Year and the Managing Assistant Attorney General of the Year for the entire state.
Ms. Scott is a Texas Bar Foundation Fellow; Election to the Fellows is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a member of the State Bar of Texas. Each year, the top 1/3 of 1% of Texas attorneys are invited to become Fellows. Nomination is based on outstanding contributions to the legal profession, as well as a commitment to the community.
Outside of work, Ms. Scott stays busy raising a son and a daughter, who both attend Lubbock Cooper schools. She enjoys spending time with her large extended family and traveling with her husband, Trent.”
