John Cook is an Associate Attorney and works at our Austin office in the Arboretum which is known for its technology-based businesses and supporting law firms. He is assigned to numerous divisions within the Firm including litigation and intellectual property. Originally from Kansas, John became an adopted Texan during his time at Baylor University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in International Relations, his master’s degree in Communications, focusing on rhetoric, persuasion, and media advertising, and his J. D. from Baylor Law, focusing on intellectual property.

After working for the Texas state legislature, John founded his own firm, Off-Brand Legal, handling trademarks for thousands of small business startups, established brick-and-mortar and e-commerce giants, and world-renowned entertainers.
John is a passionate advocate for animal rights and welfare and is a proud pet dad to ten rescue animals. In his spare time, John enjoys restoring classic cars, watching Jeopardy with his fiancé, a good game of chess, playing the drums, and spending time with his fur family.
