DWI – Driving While Intoxicated
The legal definition in Texas is anyone driving with a BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) of .08% or higher. Courts no longer show leniency in these cases given public attention and the criminal consequences can be severe. Sentences can be lengthy and up to ten years in prison in some cases with fines up to $10,000.00. Depending on the court and jurisdiction, it is not unusual for alleged offenders to be denied bail or required to pay exorbitant amounts.
